My experience of flying from the Truckee Airport was wonderful.
It all started in a round about way. Our son is attending the Challenger Sports British Soccer Camp this week and we are hosting one of the coaches. Lewis, the coach, is studying aviation in school back home in England. He noticed the Truckee Airport near the Riverview Park soccer fields and asked if we knew anyone who flies there. Sure enough we have a family friend who flies in and out of the Truckee Airport regularly. He happened to be available and kindly offerd us a ride. And that is what led up to my experience…
To raise the probability of a smooth flight we met at the Truckee Airport at 7:30am yesterday. As expected it was another beautiful, clear morning in Tahoe. Our pilot friend has a beautiful aircraft, about 9 years old and seemingly in mint condition, which he rolled out of the hangar when we arrived. We boarded the 6 passenger plane, buckled up and headed out on the runway. As we only saw one other plane out in the airport that morning, there was no wait for take off. We rounded the corner and off we went up into the Truckee skies.

South Lake Tahoe
It was beautiful…over the Martis Valley and on to Lake Tahoe. It really is a mountain jewel nestled in the mountain sky. Flying over our local area and it’s treasures just adds to the appreciation of where we live and the beauty of it. We circled the lake, Lewis was even give the controls for a time, and then we flew over Squaw Valley before heading back to the airport. The flight was a little over a half an hour. Gorgeous, peaceful, what a way to start the day.

Emerald Bay
Thanks to Lewis, our soccer coach, for the reason to fly. It was my first experience with the Truckee Airport and I have to say it was quite enjoyable. I can see why the local pilots love it and use it. Thanks for their efforts in keeping it as quiet as possible for all the locals below.
