4th of July was full of fun in Squaw Valley!
Tuesday, July 5th, 2011This summer season is here, finally, and off to a good start after the long weekend of fun. The crowds were in town enjoying the sunshine. Plenty of people were finding time to look at real estate in between their activities.
Squaw was open for skiing Saturday through Monday which it hadn’t happened since the late ’90′s. Squaw’s personnel said that it is not so uncommon to have the mountain open for 4th of July, other resorts around the country do it too, but to have 6 lifts running was a big deal. Thank goodness they did because plenty of people were out skiing. Funitel, Cable Car, Goldcoast, Shirley Lake, Links and Siberia were up and running. Having Siberia open changed the game as the resort also opened up Palisades and the Reverse Traverse for hiking.
In addition to the skiing, there was a Fine Arts Fesitval in the Village, the 21st Annunal Cushing Classic Pond Crossing took place and Big Head Todd had a concert before the fireworks display. The only downer of the weekend was the traffice getting out of Squaw after the fireworks, it was a long wait as per some friends.
We went skiing on Monday to celebrate the 4th of July with kids. Squaw was handing out free t-shirts to everyone who was skiing. We brought our bathing suits up and had a swim and lunch. Fun to ski and swim in the same morning. We hope you all had a fun an eventful 4th of July weekend.
