Luxury Real Estate Fall Conference- Seattle, WA

Wednesday, September 29th, 2010

We have been members of Who’s Who in Luxury Real Estate for the last few years.   Each year this Luxury Real Estate  network of brokers meets to collaborate on the worldwide real estate markets and the changes in the industry.  This years’ fall conference was in Seattle, WA and Ron was in attendance representing Lawrence Realty.  The attendees included about 160 luxury brokers from 7 countries around the world.

The LRE conference is always a great meeting of the minds with other luxury brokers.  Ron came back with the general statement of improving real estate markets around the country.  He was also brought home several key tips to alter and improve our every changing business.  Real estate is an industry that changes with the economy, the technology and the ways of business.  It is one of our goals to stay on top of these changes and implement them into are business as we see fit.

LRE has given us the opportunity to help some of our clients find reputable real estate brokers in other areas where they want to buy or sell real estate including Steamboat Springs, CO, the Turks and Caicos, Ventura, CA, Ft. Lauderdale, FL and several bay area locations.  If you or your friends or family are looking for recommendations for real estate brokers please let us know.  We’d be happy to help.

Tahoe Community Nursery School… had a successful fundraiser!

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

We are a part of the Tahoe Community Nursery School family and long standing tradition of starting kids out right.  TCNS has been a part of the community for the past 45 years teaching kids thru play and experiences.  This nonprofit school has always depended on tuition and fundraising to make the budget work.  Over the last few years while the economy was struggling and fund raising was tougher, the school burned thru most of their savings.  I took over the volunteer position of President of the Board this summer.  To make the school continue, we had to start this school year off to a good and positive start and raise some extra funds quick.  We did so by doing an easy fund raiser for the first two weeks of school… flower bulb sales from Dutch Mill Bulbs.  My almost 3 year old and I hit the neighborhood, friends, family and some local business owners doing our part to help the school.   We found out quickly, no one can resist the adorable questioning of a little one, especially when we are selling bags of flower bulbs for $6.  Everyone she asked bought at least one bag… and we did a lot of asking.  Our school was able to meet our goal of raising $2000.  In fact we exceeded our goal by about $500.  And my daughter was the top seller for her class winning a $15 gift certificate donated by Mind Play, the amazing toy store in the Village at Squaw Valley.  I guess selling must run in the family.  Thanks to all the families of TCNS for their efforts.  Little by little we will build up the funds to make the school financially strong again.

Trails and Vistas

Tuesday, September 14th, 2010

This past weekend we attended the 7th Annual Trails and Vistas event.  Each year we have seen the promotions for the event and were interested in it, but never made the effort to buy tickets and go.  This year the event was held in Shirley Canyon, right here in Squaw Valley.  We figured this was the year to do it.  And we are so glad we did.  Trails and Vistas is an event that combines art, performance and nature.  It was about a 3 mile guided hike thru Shirley Canyon.  We stopped about ever 10 minutes to look at, listen to and enjoy the performances and art pieces.  The tour took about 3 hours but didn’t seem as long.  We brought our kids with us and called it a mystery hike.  They were continually looking for the next trail marker or performer inconspicuously hidden in the forest.  I highly recommend this event.  It was grounding and beautiful.

Fall is in the air

Friday, September 10th, 2010

Labor Day has come and gone.  The weather feels more like fall when you start the day with long sleeves and pants and by 3pm or so you wish you had on shorts.   The nights are getting quite cool but we don’t want to turn on the furnace quite yet.  Typical fall, not quite the Indian Summer I was hoping for this year.  I heard yesterday that Mt. Rose got a dusting of snow.  Before you know it the winter season will be here.  Hence all the calls lately about ski leases.  People are on the hunt for winter lodging and some of these folks are considering buying.  It’s a great time to make a move.
