Squaw Valley Land and Lots
Squaw Valley’s original lots were sold in the early 1950s, starting at the west end of the valley, close to Squaw Valley ski area. During and after the 1960 Winter Olympic Games in Squaw Valley, additional subdivisions were added heading to the east along Squaw Creek. The original Squaw Valley subdivisions host a variety of homes ranging from rustic ski cabins to high end new construction. In recent times, some of the older homes have been sold for land value, with the house being torn down and new construction rising up. Lot sizes in the original subdivisions average approximately ¼ acre with a few as large as approximately 1 acre. Some residential lots have not been built upon yet, and are scattered throughout the original subdivisions.
Starting in the late 1980s, a number of smaller private subdivisions were established in Squaw Valley. There are 6 of these newer subdivisions which include: Squaw Summit, Hidden Lake, Homesites at Squaw Creek, Painted Rock, Squaw Creek Estates and Creekside Estates. These subdivisions have a low of 10 to a high of 48 lots. Lot sizes average around ¼ acre in these areas and some of the subdivisions have designated building pads of 60ft x 60ft or larger on the lots. The majority of homes in these subdivisions are newer, high end construction resulting in multimillion dollar homes. There are still some lots in Squaw Valley’s newer subdivisions which have yet to be built upon.
The land in Squaw Valley has been divided up over the years. Squaw Valley Ski Area and the US Forest Service own large sections of land. The above mentioned residential subdivisions comprise most of the remaining land. A few vacant pieces of land and/or acreage still exist in Squaw Valley and are privately owned.
